Here, i have included a link to my flickr account which shows my final three pages. Overall, when placed together, i feel i have kept within a specific housestyle and it appears to me that the three pages have a sense of continuity, providing a professional outcome.
Double Page Spread Final Design:
Here, i have included my final magazine double page spread design. To ensure that this was a page that would attract my specified target audience i took out a peer assessments from selected outside people that would be found within my target audience.
Here were the results:

Taking out this audience feedback, i will ensure i take on account everything that was said and recommended. As i feel this is very important to make theme changes to my final product as i want my page to appeal to my audience. Overall though, i am very pleased with my finished product, as i felt i've kept to mist of my initial ideas, have applied many important forms and conventions and successfully worked within a specific house style and colour scheme. Ensuring a professional outcome and a magazine page that relates to my music genre, 'Britpop'.
The Music Industry:
The music industry is more 'open' and 'controllable' than filmmaking and traditional broadcast television. It is slip into two 'sections': The majors and the subsidiaries (a company controlled by a holding company) they own. And the smaller independents (this section makes up approximately 20% of the market).
Vertical Integration definition; 'Vertical integration is the process in which several steps in the production and/or distribution of a product or service are controlled by a single company or entity, in order to increase that company’s or entity’s power in the marketplace.'

The "Big Four" companies that dominate the music industry includes; Sony Music Entertainment (SME), Universal Music, EMI Music and Warner Brothers.
Below, I have included a short powerpoint presentation to highlight these key companies within the music industry. Covering how each company applies production, distribution and consumption, making them so successful and widely recognized.

- "Its got very good balance and the ratio between the text and the images is very proportioned"
- "I love the sense of personalization that the scanned in signature provides"
- "The house style is very similar to the other pages and therefore, connotes 'Britpop' music and also appears professional and attractive"

In conclusion, i have found my audience feedback very useful and i plan to consider everything that my target audience suggested as i feel there opinions are very important if i am to create a successful page that appeals to my specified target audience. Overall though, i am very pleased with my contents page final design. It has shown my newly developed understanding of the importance of magazine forms and conventions that are typically used throughout many other similar, professional and well established products found within the market place. It too related directly to my target audience as i have ensured i kept within a specific house style and theme, used throughout my additional two products, front cover page and double page spread.
Contents Page Photoshoot:
After my second photshoot, the photos produced i was quite pleased with. By ensuring that i had a wide variety of different poses/angles i will be able to easily choose a suitable shot for the design of my contents page. I will be needing to edit and make small alterations too the final image of my choice, as i plan to emphasize the colour of the union jack design on the ipod and crop out any uneccessary background, as i plan to have limited distractions and focus my audiences attention to the figure and the ipod which reiterates my music genre of 'Britpop'.
Final Front Cover Design:
Here, i have included my final magazine cover page design. To ensure that this was a front cover that would attract my specified t.a i took out a peer assessments from selected media students that would be found within my target audience.
Here were the results:

By receiving this feedback, i will take on account everything that was said and shall be correcting my main title page design. Overall though, i am very pleased with the finished product, as i feel i have kept to most of my original ideas and have successful worked within a specific house style and colour scheme ensuring my chosen music genre, 'Britpop' is clear and easily established to my target audience.

Video Entry- Progress:
Here, i have included a video entry to brief you through the development of my magazine DPS, Contents Page and Front Cover. I have too, commented briefly on the difficulties i have faced and the stages that i found the easiest. Conveying my ideas and thoughts as to how i am getting on in this stage of development.
Front Cover Image Photoshoot:
Above, i have uploaded a slideshow of my preferred images that i took during my photoshoot. I ensured that there was a plain background, so that my audience focuses in on my main subject and to avoid any distractions and a 'overcrowded' front cover. I experimented with multiple angles, poses and shots (including mid-shots, wide shots, birds eye shots, low angle shots etc.).However i found the 'mid-shot' worked the best. As this created a more 'personal' appearance; one that my audience can relate to as it is a natural and non-intimidating viewpoint.
With connotations to my genre 'Britpop', i have included a pair of headphones and a lip tattoo- showing the 'British Union Jack'. Therefore, i have kept within my focused theme and this creates a more professional and organized approach to the creation of my DPS, Contents page and Front cover.
Masthead Design Ideas:
After deciding on my final masthead for my music magazine, 'BritScene', I was happy because it was very well suited with my chosen genre, Britpop, and i have based this choice on both personal preference and my results from the questionnaire i handed out to a sample group. Therefore, i am certain it will appeal to my target audience and will be eyecatching. My aim in to include my logo with the masthead name. For example, creating a 'B' that resembles a union jack, which can be easily recognized and symbolic. From looking at these masthead designs i have recenty created i can easily say that i much prefer design 'number 2.'. Because it includes the logo and is bold, eye catching, artsy and unique. Therefore, i think that i would like to include this in my final magazine front cover.
I am also considering the use of the 'British Coat of Arms', i could possibly do some experimenting with this design by using alternative colours (red, blue, white) and this acting as my possible logo. Because, i love the intricate detailing and the relavance it has with 'British' music.

Story Board:
However, this is only a guideline that i am not strictly following. It is just to help me think of some possible shots, in preparation for my photo shoot.
Flat Plan's:
I have drawn these following plans as a rough guideline into how i may want to design my music magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread. This will ensure i am aware of the possible photoshop skills i may need to learn and keep in mind when it comes to editing these images.
These plans will also remind me of the certain techniques that i have learnt, and applying these to my own work correctly. Therefore, my magazine will be appealing to my target audience, bearing in mind my results from my questionnaire, and will have a sense of professionalism.
Front Cover:
This is a rough sketch showing my desired magazine front cover plan. I plan to have my main subject in the centre of my page, providing a correct sense of 'symmetry'. I will then have the choice and space available to add in any text around the main image and a large masthead up the top of the page.
This particular shot will be either a close up shot or a mid-shot. Allowing a main focus for the magazine, and diminishing any possible distractions.
I also plan on including a specific style of 'dramatic makeup'. Emphasizing the eyes and lips (possibly a Union Jack lip tattoo). Connoting Individuality and the typical makeup of the mid 1990's, staying in with my 'Britpop' theme.
Contents Page:
My contents page will include a similar image that will be relating to my main subject shown in my front cover. This will provide a sense of a themed and well thought out magazine. I plan on including a boarder around the edges of my page that is visible, but still not too dominating and bold. A fading colour in the background will also be a nice effect that will appeal to my target audience as it gives a slightly 'artsy' touch. Keeping in mind that a bold and eye-catching 'title' showing my audience that this particular page in what will be featured in my magazine. This title could possibly be similar to my main masthead font type shown in my front cover, again adding that sense of professionalism and will be relevant to my specified genre 'Britpop'.
Double Page Spread:
My double-page spread will be an interview with a Britpop artist, and will include one main image which will take up the entire left page. I aim for my main subject to appear 'indie' and 'artsy' possibly shown wearing a Britpop band top. Which is a good way to appeal to my target audience and to show i have kept to my main theme and chosen musical genre. I would also like to include a 'background' of repeated text (preferably handwritten font), possibly of the artists name. Yet, keeping it neat, simple and easy to read. The opposite page will consist of text. And i plan on including a large, bold 'quotation' from the interview, as a way to break up the text and create a more appealing interview.
Risk Assessment:
My photo shoot will be in the outdoors. Therefore, in order for my photo shoot to be a success and to avoid any safety issues, i have created this 'risk assessment' table. This was to help me become more aware and cautious of my surroundings.
Logo Design Ideas:
Here, i decided to do some experimenting with my logo design. I felt it was particularly important to include the British colours, as it is relevant to my musical genre. I also ensured that the design could somehow relate to the musical/pop theme. By looking at these, i clearly prefer the first logo of the 'B' I could use this as part of the Masthead, as well as being a recognizable and eye-catching logo.
Editorial Profile:
I’m April, the new editor of the magazine 'BritScene’; based on this timeless genre of Britpop. With a focus on the good ol’ 60’s and 70’s, this particular magazine will bring you all of the best bands and artists from this era. With exclusive photographs, invitation, reviews and interviews you are guaranteed to be ahead of everyone else on the greatest offers and gossip. At such a reasonable price, you can’t go wrong!

The 'Two Step Flow' this means that we are much more likely to be affected by the media if we discussed it with others. Our opinion on this media is discussed and disseminated and then affected by how we then see this.
The 'Hypodermic Syringe Theory' is that The Media is like a syringe which 'injects' ideas, attitudes and beliefs into the audience. Often seen as unchallenged and passive.
There are four functions of The Media on the audience, which was specified by C. Wright Mill. These include,
- Escapism, providing people with an alternative if they have somehow failed.
- To give instructions on how to achieve their goals.
- To give people aspiration and goals to look forward to.
- To give individuals an identity.
When producing my final magazine cover/DPS/contents page, I will be considering all of these above theories and try and include some, if not all of these four functions. Because I would like to aim to provide my readers with the intended aspiration and a sense of escapism.
Keeping in mind still that over recent years The Media has significantly improved. With technology, at least, doubling every year, we now have such a vast selection of media. Allowing us to have a choice and be more selective with what we choose to consume.
Leading up to this, we therefore have an influence on what media is produced because of what is most on demand.
It’s all about ‘how’ we consume The Media, interpret and interact with it.
